Note

From Wm R Gann, 7406 Englewood Ln, Raytown, MO 64133-6913 (816) 353-7172.

From Ann Hatchett Cheney, Montgomery, AL, 19 Aug 2004 In an article published in the Gulf States Historical Magazine in May, 1903, Dr. W. J. Blake of Sheffield, Alabama, related that Jacob Harmon placed his family on a flatboat on the Nolichucky River in Tennessee, then floated downstream to the Holston River and continued down the Holston to the Tennessee River. When the family arrived in Chattanooga, they went overland to the headwaters of the Oostanaula River. There they built another boat and floated down to Rome, Georgia and then down the Coosa River to the Talladega County area. According to records, they were still in Tennessee in 1830. However, they were in Alabama territory by 1834.
