Social Security Record gives birth date as 25 Sep 1901. Billie Payne 1994: Chauncey was a tall, handsome brunette. Really, the only handsome one in the Gann family. He went to Chickasha High School all four years. As all other Ganns, he was an athlete. He played football and basketball there. He attended several colleges (as you know about this time all ranchers were having money problems). His college career was over several years. He first attended Phillip University, then Oklahoma State University (OK A&M). When he started teaching he attended East Central at Ada, OK in the summer and received his degree there. He taught and coached basketball in Borrows High and Lindsay High School and was a very successful coach and excellent history teacher. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lindsay. When he taught there he attended that church regularly. He never changed his theology. I remember him as a slow moving (actions) person and a very good conversationalist. He was well liked and as all the Ganns had a desire for education. When I was growing up I thought he was handsome and so did the older girls his age. He was someone to be proud of.
