Note | From Freda Nunnelley, 3845 Gaines Lanes, Anderson, CA 96007. From Sharon Gibbons Bean, 219 Cherry, Dumas, TX 79029 (806)935-3049 8/3/95 William Lee Gann, for twenty-eight years a resident of Fowler community, died Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the home of a son, Charles Gann, at Mosca, Colorado, twelve miles north of Alamosa, in the San Luis valley. Mr. Gann had gone over there two weeks before his death on a short business trip. His death was caused by liver and kidney derangement. The body is being brought to the Diesel Funeral Home today, for interment in Fowler cemetery. He would have been 62 years old had he lived until the latter part of next month. Mr. Gann was born at Odessa, Missouri, December 29, 1871. He was the son of Elbert and Susan Dade Gann. His marriage to Fannie Kesterson at Odessa, Missouri occurred forty-one years ago. The family moved from Odessa, Mo., to Fowler in February, 1905. Mrs. Gann passed away here twelve or thirteen years ago. The following children survive: Charles, Kenneth and Harvey Gann, living in the Mosca community; Mrs. Joe Gibbens, of Groom, Texas; Mrs. Gertrude Doll, Los Angeles, California. One son, Chester, died at Mosca in 1932; a daughter (Maude) died in 1916; Elbert died in 1906, and another son died in infancy. Two brothers and two sisters of Mr. Gann survive. They are: J. E. Gann, Odessa, Mo.; Robert Gann, Lexington, Mo.; Mrs. Earl Brannon, Oak Grove, Mo.; and Mrs. Lula Welborn, Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Mary Satterfield, Fowler's oldest citizen, now nearly 94 years old, was present when Mr. Gann was born at Odessa, and she was first to dress and care for him. In the death of Mr. Gann the community loses a highly-esteemed citizen, and to the relatives in their sorrow the people of Fowler extend sincere sympahty. |
