Zachariah is listed on 1850 census with his grandfather, John (Jack) Gann.

From Federal Archives Pension File #613003: Taylor was a private in Company A, 6th Regiment, Tennessee Volunteer Mounted Infantry. He enrolled 2 Aug 1864 discharged 30 June 1865 at Nashville. Height 5 ft 6 in, dark complexion, yellow eyes, dark hair and occupation farmer. From his discharge until October 1870, he lived near Harrison, Hamilton Co, TN. In 1870 he moved to Beverly, Sebastion Co, AR. Statement dated June 15 1911, " Enlisted in 5 TN 2 or 3 months but was under age and was discharged by request of parents. Remained out several months when reinlisted June 1865. I cannot give any more specific information. Am not sure whether I was mustered in or not. Height 5 ft 10 in, complex brown, hair black, eyes brown. Statement of Taylor's dated June 1, 1912 attested to by Guss Gann and F. M. Nixon. From his discharge until October 1870, he lived near Harrison, Hamilton Co, TN. In 1870 he moved to Beverly, Sebastian Co, AR. It is reported in the record that he died Jan. 25, 1923 and is survived by widow, Vanda Lee.
