Note

From Dorretta Moore, R 4 Box 305K, Blanchard, OK 73010. 3/4/97

Information from the 1900 Greene Co, MO census: Angeline could read and write; all of Joseph & Angeline's children were still at home; Nancy, Joseph's mother, could not read nor write; Joseph was a farmer and renting a home. From the 1910 Oklahoma Census: Joseph's family was living in Summerfield Twp, Pushmataha Co, OK; Joseph was a farmer and could neither read nor write; their male children were farm laborers and could read and write and had attended school since Sept 1, 1909; Frank, oldest son, "worked out" on someone else's farm; other sons worked the home farm.

Sardis Cemetery is on an island in the middle of Sardis Lake. The Corp of Engineers moved graves and markers from many small cemeteries in surrounding area to a landfill and mapped area prior to creating Lake Sardis. Joseph and Rebecca were originally buried in Sardis Cemetery in Sardis, OK; however, graves were moved before Sardis Lake was formed because Lake would cover the original burial site. The town of Sardis, OK is now under Lake Sardis and no longer exists as the town was not moved, just vacated and left abandoned and eventually covered by Lake Sardis.
