William may have been the son of Jacob Hackney and Sarah Fisher Hackney of Knox Co, TN, who divorced 6 Sep 1827. "In 1821 or before Jacob was married to Sarah Fisher of Knox Co. and she left him. Statement by James McLemore that Jacob and Sarah arrived about 5 years ago, that they lived in Knoxville a short time and parted, and that they have been apart ever since. Further statement by Jacob Hackney that his wife broke her marriage vows with a man named Doughty." (19 Feb 1827) |
