Note

From Theola Baker, 164 Rube's Rd, Rose Bud, AR 72137 (501) 556-5443 6/8/96.

!Family story is that Mary Frances died from childbirth. However, death did not occur until 5 months after the birth of her last child. Perhaps she had lingering complications of some sort, or it was assumed by the family that because she had had so many children that she was in a weakened physical state and her death resulted from multiple pregnancies and births. !Exact location of grave unknown and unmarked. Wm. T. Walden says his grandmother Mary Frances is buried at Wapanucka, OK, in the "old" cemetery. Elva Joy Gann Walker says Mary Frances is buried at Boggy Depot, at a cemetery between BD and Wapanucka. On 3/20/95 Theola Walden Baker was referred by the Wapanucka Funeral Home to the Chickasaw Museum at Tishomingo where the Johnston County Historical Society has cemetery records and newspaper obituaries. No record was found. Reference person says 3 cemeteries are located in the Wapanucka area: Rose Hill in town, Moore Cemetery abt 2 miles south of town, and one near Bromide. It is the opinion of the reference person that Mary Frances was probably buried at Moore Cemetery, but information about unmarked graves was lost in funeral home fire in 1935. Wapanucka Funeral Home director says that many persons were buried the next day after death, without the services of an undertaker--families simply purchased a lot, purchased a coffin, and buried their own. Chickasaw Museum, (405) 371-3351. Record of Mary Alice Walden Hewitt from mother Susie Gann and uncle Bill Gann says Mary Frances buried in a plowed field and grave marked with a stone, the location of which is unknown today. !1870 Greene Co., MO, age 6, enumerated with parents; 1880 Grayson Co., TX, age 16, enumerated with parents; 1900 Fannin Co., TX, age 37, enumerated with husband.
