Established home and began family with husband prior to marriage date. Record shows at least one child born before marriage date. Child died. Notes of Mary Alice Walden Hewitt obtained from mother Susie Gann Walden indicate 2-3 children may have been born. Notes also indicate that in those days in OK (possibly prior to or immediately after statehood) it wasn't convenient to get to the courthouse.

She raised sister Donie's 3 orphaned children after their mother's death in 1918. Children appear on 1920 census with family.
