Note | William fought in the Civil War. He was a member of Company A, 40 Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, enlisted 10 Mar 1862, was 1st Sgt and reduced in rank to Pvt in 1863, was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on 4 July 1863, was paroled and left in hospital there July 1863. His name appears on a list of prisoners of war who were delivered off Mobile Bay Harbor, AL on board the S.S. Crescent on 4 Aug 1863. 22 July 1864 was killed at Atlanta, Georgia.
