Note

From Ray Gann, Rt 2, Box 105, Perkins, OK 74059.

2nd day of September 1908, Rufus H. Brown, being duly sworn, deposes and says: "My name is Rufus Brown. I am 55 years old. I came from Tahlequah District to Rogers Co. I was born in Flint District in 1853. I was enrolled by the Dawes Commission Cerokee Roll No. 12226. I was on all the rolls since 1853. I got my blood from my mother, Ruthie Gann, and she married William E. Brown. She is dead. She lived in Tahlequah District. She lived there since the war. Previously in Flint District. She told me she was enrolled in 1851, and drew money. Her brothers and sisters were: Andrew Miller, half-brother, he lived in Flint District; Avery Miller, in Flint Dist. She had three half-sisters, Lucinda Miller, married Adair; she lived in Flint District; Elmire Paton, nee Miller; she lived in same District; Betsy Miller, married Enlow, in Flint District; also one named Ibby, but I do not recall the name she was enrolled under. My mother lived in Illinois District also. She got her blood from her mother. These half-brothers and sisters were the same mother. Her own brothers were George Gann; he lived in Sequoyah District and also in Flint. Her mother's name was Catherine Hicks before she married Miller. There are two half-brothers Elias and Isaac Gann killed in Mexican War. My mother's mother was Lydia Chism or Chisholm. I do not know where she lived in 1851. I don't know whether she had any brothers or sisters. They never drew Old Settler money that I heard of. I don't know know when they left the East. My mother left Georgia, I think, in 1839. My sister is Rebecca Creech, #929. John T. Brown's minor children are: Rebecca Brown, Ruth Brown, and Willie and one other, have filed application." Signed R. H. Brown
