Goodspeed's History of Knox, Hamilton and Shelby Counties, Tennessee, reprinted in 1974 from the 1887 edition, Page 954: Rebecca Gann married in 1855 to J. J. Jackson. She was born 14 Dec. 1837, daughter of Preston and Mary (Layman) Gann, who were among the earliest settlers of Hamilton County. Mr. Gann was born in Hawkins County, and Mrs. Gann in Washington County. He of Scotch-Irish descent, she of German. Rebecca and J. J. had eight children, four surviving.
