Russel and Peggy Best and children, Darlene and Billy, drove to Cottonwood Falls, Ks. to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Nancy Jane (Boucher) Duckworth Walker who died 8 Jan 1942 in Chase Co., Kans. Darlene remembers the twins Archie and Allen and Vern Roy and playing "Old Maid" with Donald Wayne Walker. Obituary from the Breckenridge Bulletin, Published July 8, 1938. Mrs George Best died Friday morning of last week at the age of 57 at her home northeast of Moorseville. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Mooresville Christian Church conducted by the Rev. C.C. Throtyear, interment in Mooresville cemetery. She was united in marriage to George Best of Mooresville, Dec. 24, 1900. To this union was born three children. She became a member of the Christian church at an early age. She was preceded in death by her infant son, her father, sister Mrs. John Trussell, one half-sister Mrs Tom Goodman, and a brother, Aaron Walker. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, son Russell of Chillicothe, a daughter Mrs Gladys Tiberghien of Sampsel, her aged mother Mrs. Smith Walker of Clement, KS. four grandchildren, Donna Jean, Deloris June Tiberghien of Sampsel, Darline (Darlene) and Bill Best of Chillicothe, and a host of other relatives and friends. |
