Note

From E. Eugene Gann, North Little Rock, AR.

He was a farmer and cultivated land in the Tennessee River bottom and operated a ferry across the Tennessee River to Hamburg, TN. About 1880 they moved from Nixon, TN to Alcorn Co, MS. The family settled in the Blue Cut Community near MS and TN state line. About 1884 they bought 63 acres of land about 3 miles from Corinth, MS on Ridge Road (present day Harper Rd). There was talk about moving to Texas to what was called Commanche Territory. Rebecca Ann was opposed to this, so Hannah Gann, James, Marion, Riley, Sarah and Elizabeth left for Commanche Territory. They settled in a place that was later known as Rising Star, TX. Hannah Gann lived to be nearly 100 years old.
