Note | Theresa Dunlap, Plainview, TX. Galen Gann, 821 Reveille Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76108-4030 12/6/98 Sarah and James Holmes came to Stephens Co, TX in 1868 (bringing with them a Mrs. Mary Reed and her two sons, Jim Caroll. Their husband and father, also a confederate soldier, had also died of the measles). They settled east of Ivan, TX near the mouth of Cedar Creek where it empties into the Brazos River. They lived for sometime in the covered wagons, then added a tent for added living space, and finally built a one-room log house. Both are buried in Veal Creek Cemetery. |
