Samuel Gann of Winchester Va Family

!Joshua Gann lived in Washington Co., TN when he enlisted in the War of 1812. He was a private "in the company commanded by Captain Andrew Lawson in the Tennessee Militia commanded by Cols. Anderson and Johnson in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on 18th day of June 1812, that he was drafted at Washington County, Tennessee on or about the twentyeth day of September A.D. 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of seven months and thirteen days and was honorably discharged at Knocksville in State of Tennessee on third day of May A.D. 1815 as will appear by the muster Rolls of said Company that he received a written certificate of discharge which was surrendered up to the paymaster when he was paid off by government for his services." Expiration of service at Knoxville, Tennessee (100 miles from rendezvous), pay per month $8, amount of pay $61.33, 6 days added for traveling allowance. He then lived in Jackson and Cocke Counties, TN. There is an Isaac Gann with no wife lis ted on the 1830 Cocke Co, TN census. If this is Joshua Isaac then the mother of his childre n had died. He moved to Lafayette Co about 1835, later moving to Livingston Co, Mo. On the M O 1850 census, he is shown with a wife by the name of Rebecca. He died after 15 July 1861 when he (without wife) signed a deed transferring his real estate to his daughter, Adeline Gann Frazier. He and wife are buried i n the Gibbons Cemetery along with three of his children and their families. Listed on 1840 Census Livingston Co, MO with 2 males under 10 (b 1830-1840), 1 male 10-2 0 (b 1820-30)(William b 1831), 1 male 20-30 (b 1810-1820 (Abraham b 1826, 1 male 50-60 (1790- 1800) (Joshua b 1795); 2 females 10-20 (b 1820-1830) (Susanna b abt 1829, Adeline abt 1831) ; 1 female 20-30 (b 1810-1820) (Mary Jane born 1825), 1 female 50-60 (b. 1850 Census Livingst on Co, MO: Joshua 55, Rebecca 52, Abraham 23, TN; William 19, TN; Adaline 19, TN. There is a marriage record of a Joshua Gann 1 Sept. 1813 to Jenna Gann in Rhea County, T ennessee. Rebecca, listed as his spouse on the census, was born about 1798 (per the census), and she apparently was deceased by 1860 as she is not liste d on the 1860 census.
