!News Item in Princeton Telegraph, Wednesday, October 19, 1910: Lived Here 75 Years - Samuel B. Gann, seventy-six years of age and a pioneer resident of Marion township, died Tuesday, October 11, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. L. Alley, o f Mercer, after a two weeks illness with Nephritis. Funeral services were held Wednesday, con ducted by Rev. A. S. Olson, after which the remains were borne to the Girdner cemetery and te nderly laid to rest by the side of his beloved companion who preceded him in death over two y ears ago. Mr. Gann was a native of Tenessee and was born December 9, 1833. Two years later h e emigrated with his parents to Missouri where he has since made his home. On March 1, 1885 ( this should be 1855), he was united in marriage to Mary R. Newlin and to this union were bor n eight children--five sons and three daughters. Of these the following four survive the pare nts: Mrs. D. L. Alley, Mercer; J. W. Gann, Niles, Okla.; S. P. Gann, Springfield, Mo.; J. F . Gann, McCloud, Okla. The wife and mother died Dec. 26, 1907. Thirty-eight years ago the dec eased was converted at a revival meeting at the Girdner school house and united with the U. B . Church with which organization he since affiliated and lived a true Christian life. Mr. Gan n was universally respected and loved by a large circle of friends and was everywhere recogni zed as an honest, conscientious christian gentleman. No greater tribute than this could be pa id to any one man. He lived a long life of great usefullness and has passing will be regretted and is a loss to the entire community. Th e hearts of all go out to the bereft children in their affliction. His Missouri Death Certifi cate shows "Dont know" for names and birthplaces of father and mother.
