!Rebecca was born on the Duckworth home place, four miles north of Sampsel, MO. She was one of 14 children of pioneers who came to this county in covered wagons. Her father came here from Kentucky and her mother was a small girl when she made the trip here from Tennessee. After marriage they lived 1 1/2 miles south of the Duckworth farm.

!Dies Day After Her 100th Birthday--Mrs. Rebecca (Aunt Becky) Thompson, who observed her 100th birthday anniversary only Saturday, died at the home of her son, Oscar Thompson, in Milan. Mrs. Thompson had been in failing health for several years and confined to her bed since May. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Pleasant Ridge Church, north of Sampsel. The Rev. Homer Harris of Jamesport will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Jamesport. The body will lie in state at the Chaney Funeral Home in Milan until the hour of service when it will be removed to the church. Mrs. Thompson, daughter of Robert Duncan Duckworth and Mary Jane (Gann) Duckworth was born Oct. 17, 1858, on the Duckworth home place, four miles north of Sampsel. Mrs. Thompson was the last surviving member of her family which consisted of seven boys and seven girls. On Oct. 26, 1882, she was married to Melvin Winton Thompson, a they resided on their own farm 1 1/2 miles south of the Duckworth place. Mr. Thompson died Dec. 5, 1931. After Mr. Thompson's death, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Della Gray Wilson, until eight years ago when she moved to Milan. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant church before transferring her membership to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Dr. J. M. Thompson, Jamesport, and Oscar Thompson, Milan, and the daughter, Mrs. Della Gray Wilson, Rt. 4, Chillicothe. She also leaves eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
