In the Lompoc Record, Dec. 15, 1888: "Mr. A. C. Gann brought to our office Wednesday last a fine bunch of Lawton blackberries, grown in Miguelito Canyon, fresh from the vine." George Horn said "We were all real fond of Uncle Fraze, he was a real nice old fellow. He and Dad used to go bee hunting together. They would find nests in rocks and old trees and always brought home lots of honey.
