Obituary from Hamilton, Texas, Feb. 19, 1937. The home of one of the best known and most highly esteemed of Hamilton county's long established families was invaded by death on Tuesday evening, February 16, when Mrs. Julia Gann, beloved wife of George M. Gann, passed away at eleven o'clock. Reports had been coming to Hamilton relatives and friends since Tuesday of last week of the critical illness at the family residence in the Indian Grove community, near Fairy, of Mrs. Gann, 70 years of age. She was stricken with paralysis and later pneumonia developed and all efforts for restoration were navailing. The loving companion of George M. Gann for forty-nine years, the devoted mother, grandmother, and the kind, loyal friend of every one who traveled Mrs. Gann's way, was called to a life of rich reward. Julia Gann, daughter of the late widely known Nath Gann and wife, Mrs. Jemima Gann, was born in Comanche county, August 21, 1866. She grew into lovely young womanhood and was married to George M. Gann on May 5, 1887. The couple established their home in the Indian Grove community and engaged in farming and ranching and prospered and built up for themselves a circle that included a host of warm friends. There were ten children born to them. Mr. Gann and eight of their children, four sons and four daughters, survive in heartbroken loneliness and anguished yearning for the voice that is stilled and the presence that filled their lives with content and happiness and sufficed as a haven in all their trials and disappointments in life. The sons are Bause, Jesse and Bryan Gann, of the home; and Sol Gann, of Lubbock. The daughters are Miss Jemima Gann of the home; Mrs. J. A. Finkin, Mrs. M. C. Commander and Mrs. Walter Mixon, all of Forth Worth. She leaves also six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. A. R. Hoover and Mrs. A. D. Fulbright, and a brother, N. H. Gann, of Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Gann was a sister-in-law of Mrs. J. H. Grogan, of Hamilton.
