Andrew lived near Igou's Ferry in Hamilton Co.'s 1st District (near where the Sequoyah nuclear plant is now) in 1903.

General Affidavit, State of Tennessee, County of Hamilton, dated 11th day of July, 1885 and signed by George W. Penney, aged 57, a resident of near Igous Ferry. "Served with him [Andrew J. Penney] in the same Company and Regiment during the war lived a near neighbor to him all the time since the war. I further state of my own certain knowledge that I no that soldier Andrew J. Penney was wounded at Buzzard Roost Ga. on or about the Fall of 1864 as well as now remembered. That he was struck with a piece of a shell or fractured shell on or near the buckle of his army belt. It was thought and generally conceived the shell first struck him on the buckly of his belt then ranged down between his legs and tore and fractured him considerably in the region of the groin. Where the piece of shell first struck him up near the region of the breast bone or stomach it bruised him and tore his flesh in such manner as to cause him to become ruptured at that place. I have repeatedly seen the place since his discharge and seen it protrooded out as large as a hen's egg. it gives him great pain and disables him verry much from performing manuel labor to make a suport for himself and family. I was to with the comand when claimant was wounded tho been in a few days thereafter have seen him often and repeatedly since discharge and know the statements here made to be correct."
