(Translated) Deposit entrustment that your lordship makes in Diego de Porras, son of Luis de Salvatierra de los caciques of two concho Indian settlements that he has to congregate in the town of San Francisco in the province of Santa Barbara (1606).

Francisco de Urdiñola governor and captain general of this kingdom and province of Nueva Vizcaya by the king our lord because Luis de Salvatierra neighbor and farmer in the valley of San Bartolomé de la provina de Santa Bárbara, by request that he presented to me, related to me that as it was well known there that for more than 35 years he was in this kingdom, the most of said time in the said province of Santa Bárbara populating haciendas of mines, labor and livestock in a time of greater risk in which everyday life suffered from remarkable work and needs, always laden with arms for the many wars, deaths and other crimes that the natives of that province did that prevented it from being populated and that had not been the one who had least served the royal majesty and so that he would be remunerated somehow, he asked me and begged to do him mercy that Diego de Porras his legitimate son be deposited and entrusted for three lives or the that two settlements of Indians from that province of the nation were served with two caciques, the one Baoyaca and the other Natramalao, and that they were newcomers from the inland with all the men, women, adults and children with their subjects, some of whom were settled on their hacienda that in this way sending him and his son would do them good and the mercy that he requested and by my eyes and attentive to the services what Luis de Salvatierra has said to his majesty in his real name and for as long as his will or mine I deposit and entrust in said Diego de Porras his son the said Indian chiefs of the said two rancherías so that he makes them gather and congregate in the town of San Francisco de la Provincia and give doctrine so that they come in knowledge of the things of our holy catholic faith and have police and friendship and deal with the Spanish and that they comply with the rest that is ordered and commanded by reason of the Indians who will later order the tribute that they will have to pay and will be given an appraisal for it and the said Indians must not be able to serve against his will and if they serve him with her he must pay their salary and due work and do good treatment as he is commanded. I date in this town of Durango on July 24 of 1606 years, which I entrust, I do without prejudice to his majesty, not to another third party who better right have.
