| Note | From a letter written by Margaret Griffen in 1982 about her grandmother Isabella SCOTT Milne: "I was 10 years old when she died and I remember her funeral which was held in the home of her son Robert on his farm on the Turtle River near Emerado N. Dakota. The Milne book says she died in Grand Forks andshe may have died there - only 20 miles apart. I do remember her visiting us once when my mother was still alive but I would have been less than 5 years old. I remember she wore the old fashioned clothes with voluminous skirts (with a pocket in it where she kept old fashioned peppermint candies) and wore old fashioned bonnets in the house all net and jet. (Editor note: "net and jet" refers to a long since disappeared style. ) She spent most of her final years at Uncle Roberts. I don't recall ever talking with her. She was 84 when she died." |
