He was a much-loved son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He will truly be missed by so many family and friends, He was born to L.D. and Mary Jane Gann Farrar on October 5, 1944, in Port Isabel, Texas, where he attended Port Isabel schools until 1955, then the family moved to Brownsville, where he continued his education. Billy was a Vietnam War veteran, serving his country in the U S Army from 1965 to 1967. He held the position of purchasing manager for several major companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He also worked as assistant manager of Southern Star Shrimp Farm in Arroyo City, Texas. Later, he became owner of Action Construction Company in Port Isabel. Billy was a charter member of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville, Texas, founded on December 1, 1957. Billy is survived by two daughters, Tricia (Chris) Weber of Bedford, Texas, and Trina (Jeff) Farrar-Manley of Garland, Texas; a granddaughter, Carissa Weber, and ex-wife Linda Farrar-Spain. He is also survived by his 92 year old mother, Mary Jane Farrar; brothers, Don Farrar and Larry (Ofi) Farrar, of Brownsville, and Bob (Betty) Farrar, of Olmito; sisters, Jayne (Gene) Cox, of San Benito, and Sandy Nicholas, of Olmito, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces who all loved talking to, getting advice from and swapping fish stories with their Uncle Billy. He could swap with the best of them. Visitations will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Henry Thomae Funeral Home in San Benito. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Henry Thomae Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Burial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Portway Baptist Church Food Bank, 2000 N. Minnesota Dr., Brownsville, Texas 78520 or to the charity of their choice. Mary Jane Gann Farrar, 94, our precious Mother suffered a massive stroke and left us to join the love of her life husband Dee Farrar, son Billy Wayne Farrar, grandchildren Brandi Nicholas and Stacey Cox and other family members. Mother spent her life loving and taking care of her family and doing Her Lord's work. She was one of the founding members of Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years touching the hearts of many of Brownsville's young children. She served her community by working and helping care for folks that came to the Portway Baptist Food Bank. Twice a week she would go to nursing homes and sing to them, witnessing to them and telling them of Gods love for them. She will be dearly missed by all. Left behind to cherish and celebrate her life are 8 children. Don (Ellen, deceased) (Ann) Farrar, Bob (Betty, deceased) Farrar, Jayne (Gene) Cox, Larry (Ofi) Farrar, Sandra (George, deceased) Nicholas. Also celebrating her memory are 33 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Mary Jane Gann Farrar, 94, our precious Mother suffered a massive stroke and left us to join the love of her life husband Dee Farrar, son Billy Wayne Farrar, grandchildren Brandi Nicholas and Stacey Cox and other family members.
