Death

MILNE - At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jno Kearns, in Wayne township, Jones county, Iowa, Oct. 7th, 1889. Mrs. Elizabeth Booth Milne, having nearly completed her 92d year. Born in the Parish of Leslie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Member of the Kirk of Scotland; upon the religious revolution that disrupted the established church, she courageously went with the Free Church of Scotland.

Elizabeth married Joseph Milne in Kirktown of Clatt, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 30 Apr 1826. The family emigrated in 1847 with five children; two others had died in Scotland. They settled in Mooers Forks, NY, where their son William died within a few years of their arrival.

Elizabeth was widowed in 1870, and moved to Iowa in 1874 to divide her time between her son James and daughter Agnes (Mrs. Kearns).

According to her obituary, Elizabeth was strongly religious, cheerful, kind, happy, punctual and always busy. At the time of her death, she had four living children, 32 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
