He had 12 carts, 273 mules and lived in the house of Alonso del Castillo "por no tener el dicho Diego de Funes quien le haga de comer." With the money he was given by the inhabitants of the Valley, "he bought in the early 17th century the estancia named Santana", which had a foundry mill. The indentured Indians of the ranch rebelled in 1631 and killed his son. In 1634 another son, also named Diego Jimenez de Funes, was in Parral.
