Death | From Helen's obituary in the Valley Morning Star: Birth: May 10, 1920 Ben Franklin Delta County Texas, USA Death: Sep. 2, 2003 Gaithersburg Montgomery County Maryland, USA Helen Mae (Graves) Gann HARLINGEN - Helen Mae (Graves) Gann passed away at the Shady Grove Adventist Nursing Home in Rockville, Maryland on Tuesday, September 2, 2003. She had been living with her son and his wife since July of 2000 in Montgomery Village, Maryland. Mrs. Gann was born in High, Texas on May 10, 1910 to Rufus and Elsie Graves. She lived most of her life in the Valley. She was married to Howard J. (Pete) Gann who preceded her in death on July 14, 1997. At that time, they had been married 47 years and were residing on their farm outside Harlingen. Mrs. Gann is survived by her son, Glynn Lewis of Montgomery Village, Maryland; daughter, Sandra Hein of Laguna Niguel, California; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. During her life in the Valley, she worked at a number of jobs in several cities, most notable at Dutch's Drive Inn in San Benito in the 30's and 40's; and with Dr. Huddleston in Harlingen from which she retired to farm life. |
