Notes for JOHN JAMES MCCABE: Ontario Intelligencer, Belleville, Ontario April 13, 1946 John James McCabe died at his home, 188 Dundas Street East, on Friday afternoon after a lengthy illness. The late Mr. McCabe, who was in his 71st year, was born in Lindsay and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCabe. For many years he resided in the place of his birth and nineteen years ago he took up residence in this city. For eleven years he was employed at the former Springer Lock Works and of late years he lived retired. To many old friends his death has brought much regret. He was a faithful member of St. Michael's Church. Surviving him are his wife, the former Catherine Fennelly; two daughters, Miss Winnifred McCabe at home, and Mrs. T.J. (Anna) Murtagh of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Edward McCabe, Toronto, and John McCabe at home. He was the last of his family. Resting at the Martin Funeral Home, Church Street, until late Saturday afternoon, than at his late residence; the funeral announcement is made in this edition.

Ontario Intelligencer, Belleville, Ontario April 15, 1946 Late John James McCabe The funeral of John James McCabe took place this morning from his late residence, 188 Dundas Street east, to St. Michael's Church where Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father A. L. O'Donnell, who also said the committal prayers at the grave side, in St. James cemetery. The bearers were William Frawley, Harold Arnott, B.G. Wilkinson, Fred Frederickson, William Hargrove and Frank Domenico.

Name unknown (it may have been Mary). In the 1881 Ops, Victoria County, Ontario census in Division 2, Page 23-There is a Peter McCabe-age 20, b. Ont, Mary-age 55, B. Ireland, and a Catherine and Mary-both age 27, both B. Ont. These are widow and children of John MCCABE who married Mary Burns.
