Death	October 5, 2016 (Age 61 years) Boise, Idaho Note: Gerald "Jerry" Joseph McCabe Gerald "Jerry" Joseph McCabe 1954 ~ 2016 Gerald "Jerry" Joseph McCabe, 61, of Boise, Idaho, left this earthly realm on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Jerry died at home of natural causes after a gallant and courageous battle with Mesothelioma. He was surrounded and embraced by his heavenly treasures…his family and friends. Jerry was born in Kellogg, Idaho on December 1, 1954, to Lawrence and Eleanor McCabe. Jerry's father was a full Irishman, and Jerry always took pride in his Irish-Catholic heritage. Jerry spent his youth in Spokane, Washington. His family lived in the Gonzaga University area that was fondly referred to as "the Little Vatican." Jerry attended St. Aloysius Gonzaga Elementary School and Gonzaga Preparatory School for Young Christian Gentleman. In his high school years at Gonzaga Prep, he thrived in sports and the comradery of teammates. He played football and basketball, and participated in track, running the mile and doing the high jump. When it came time for college, Jerry chose his parents' alma mater, the University of Idaho, where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting in May of 1978. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity where he made many meaningful friendships and happy memories. Jerry found his one true love, Julie Babin, at Idaho. Their first date was a weekend trip with friends to McCall to go skiing. He won her heart at, "Do you want to go skiing with me?" Jerry moved to Boise after graduation to be near Julie. They were married on a beautiful spring day on April 19, 1980. Jerry's first and only professional job was with Idaho Power. He worked for Idaho Power for 38 years and was officially retired on September 30, 2016. ....His purpose in life was to take good care of his family and to be a loyal friend. He knew the language of his soul and his role in this universe. He was a man of courage, dignity, and integrity. Jerry was a stoic gentleman of the highest regard, respected by all who met him. Jerry is survived by his one true love, Julie, and his beloved children, Molly Marie McCabe and her fiancé Timothy O'Donnell, and Michael Lawrence McCabe and his girlfriend Jennifer Benavente. He is also survived by his brother, Timothy McCabe, and his family; mother-in-law, Doris Babin; brother-in-law, Gale Babin; and nephew, Lucas Babin and his wife Christina and their children Eliza and Anderson. Their dog Trooper will continue to protect and entertain his family. He is also survived by many dear, cherished friends, neighbors, and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Michael McCabe and Eleanor Stelma McCabe. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Risen Christ Catholic Community, 11511 Lake Hazel Road, Boise, ID, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. Monsignor Joseph da Silva will preside.
