Fact | Juan González Bas was the Alcalde Mayor of Alburquerque late in 1731. At this time he boasted that he had returned at the time of the reconquest with his family, and they re-occupied the house where he had been born. He gave his parent's name as Juan González Bas and Nicolasa Zaldívar Jorge. His two brother were already dead, as was his uncle, Captain Sabastián González Bas. By 1710, he was a Captain and residing in Bernalillo, where he gave his age as forty. He was appointed Alcalde Mayor of Albuquerque in 1713. He prospered both as an official and a land holder in the Rio Abajo until his death in Alameda on 14 Nov 1743. His widow, María López del Castillo, survived him. He had many daughters. They were Catarina, who married Vicente García in 1710 in Bernalillo; Antonia, who married Juan de Tafoya in 1716; Juana, born 30 Jul 1701, who married Pedro Varela in 1716; Prudencia, born 8 May 1704, who maried Antonio de Tafoya, and then Vicente Ginzo; Inez was born in 1703, and married Cristóbal Varela Jaramillo in 1718, and then Baltasar Trujillo in 1728.
