| Name | I've included William Braines as a brother of Jane Braines because he and Jane were married on the same day and same church in Graveley Cambridgeshire. There must have been a family connection. Jane married Thomas Scott and William married Elizabeth Christian on Jul 18, 1828. At that time William was a widower, a shepherd and a laborer. His first wife Rebecca Clarke (of Great Staughton Hunts) had been buried in Graveley a few weeks before William's marriage to Elizabeth, leaving him with a young daughter Ann Brain to raise. In 1830 William and Elizabeth had one child John baptized in Graveley after having moved to Stilton Huntingdonshire. William was a shepherd and probably moved with the seasons. |
