Frances was known as Frankie by everyone.
She loved to tell stories of her family and I always thought she was a wonderful story teller. I would spend summers up in Watonga as a child and we spent lots of time together. She loved to sing and was a good singer. In the evenings we would sit out on the porch and sing away. What fond memories. My grandmother spoiled me (and all her children and grandchildren). We would get the house work done in the morning (my job was to dust, sweep the den, and clean the bathtub) and then in the afternoon we would go to town or go to visit friends and family. Sometimes she would take me to Roman Nose State Park to go swimming. What a treat! The water was straight from the springs...nice and cold. She always told me my grandfather had a lot to do with Roman Nose being a state park. But I have found no proof of that yet.

She was a wonderful cook...roast beef, potatoes, green beans and the BEST gravy! She had a sweet tooth too. I remember making cakes and eating ice cream with her. Root Beer Floats were a special afternoon treat.
