| Biography | The Seventh Annual Turley Reunion was held Sunday, September 4, 1927 at the beautiful country home of Mrs Rose Watson. The following family history was written and read by Mrs. Watson: David Harrison, son of David and Polly Ribelin Turley, was born August 31, 1815 in Montgomery County, Kentucky, near Mt. Sterling. His mother was according to his testimony, a most estimable woman. Left with a large family of children to support. She held the reins of government, in strong capable hands and with much hard labor, self denial and rigorous discipline, she reared a family of good christian men and women. He was a saddler by trade, making and trimming the saddles in wonderful geometric designs to meet the demands of the times. He united with and was baptized into the old Christian Church at Corinth Kentucky when he was 17 years old. At the age of 23, with two brothers, William and John, he started out to seek his fortune. His sister Polly Ann had married Thos. McNabb and moved to Indiana. He came to her home in Morgan county, his brothers locating and making homes. William in Illinois and John in Missouri. In a short time he met and wooed Elizabeth McNabb to whom he was married July 12, 1838. For several years they lived on a forty acre farm inherited by his wife, where most of their family of eight chilren were born. The children were (?) | Note | Saddler. Justice of the Peace. When 23 years old, moved from Kentucky to Morgan County, Indiana. Bought a 135 acre farm from Daniel Vert and moved into a log house on the tract. Joined the Friendship Church. Was a deacon until 22 Oct 1888, when he moved to Mount Gilead. After second marriage, built a brick house. |
| Note | From Internment.net: Mount Olive Cemetery Landersdale, Morgan County, Indiana 8332 East Hadley Rd, Landersdale IN Lat: 39° 36' 39"N, Lon: 86° 16' 18"W Madison Twp, R2E Sec 35 Contributed by Jeff Curtis, Aug 29, 2006, last edited Sep 12, 2006. To reach this cemetery from Landersdale drive south Mann Road for about .5 mile. Turn right or west onto Hadley Road about 1/4 mile, turn left or south onto Navajo Court. The cemetery will be on the east or left side of the road, just after the first home. This cemetery is less than a mile north from Fox Hill. One can head north on Mann Road and follow the rest of the above directions to the cemetery. The cemetery is east of Mooresville, Indiana. According to the Cowen notes, the cemetery was in poor condition and was no longer cared for in 1967. It appears to have been actively used in the mid to late 1800s. Currently it is fenced and a church that was adjacent to the cemetery has now been converted to a home. To them were born; Cora Paddock who died in 1922. She had six children, five are living, four in the Mooresville community. Colona Turley who died at the age of twenty two unmarried; Honora Turley died when two years old; Leora Turley Jackson died in 1911. She had four girls, one is deceased, two live in Mooresville an done in Monrovin; Katharine Turley Jackson; She had four children all at home; Rose Turley Watson; She had seven children, five living.
