We have no idea who was the wife of Thomas. I also believe that Mary Gann Corbitt was the daughter of Thomas. This is based upon the connections that I have found in Rhea and Hamilton County.\" [2015]

Name | Converging paper trails and DNA show Clement Gann and William Gann to be the same person; married in VA or NC. Appears 1760 Frederick Co VA; 1776 Guilford Co NC militia; 1778 buys 50 acres in Caswell Co NC, sells in 1779; daughter Dolly Gann born 1779; 1780 on Washington Co TN tax list. With son William Adam appears by formal first names in 1795 Superior Court case. In 1817 sells Washington Co land (Jacob Gann, a son by DNA matching, witnessed the deed); maybe moved in with son Daniel L. Gann next door or removed to Rhea Co with Jacob and Isham and son-in-law Thomas Gann b1764. The name Clement passed out of family naming tradition in favor of William, but the DNA lives on in the descendants. [The Gann Gazette, pg 2. Volume 32, No. 3, Winter 2025] |
