Note

An email from Kathie Laprise on Dec 3, 2009 states:

A letter from I have some confusion about Mary Ann's mother, Margaret. There is a Margaret McCabe dying in Manitowoc on 3 Apr 1887 (Wisconsin Deaths 1820-1907). The cemetery transcriptions online from the Manitowoc Genealogical Society confirm this date. Yet on the same site I find the following notice:

"Encylopaedia of Forms and Precedents for Pleading and Practice at Common" by William Henry Michael, William Mack, Howard Pervear Nash, Thomas Edward O'Brien, James Cockcroft 1901 Copyright Page 43

Form No. 15344. (Precedent in Eaton v. Williams, 51 Wis. 99.)* County Court, Manitowoc County. In the matter of the application of Richard White, John Grant and Robert Gould, supervisors of the town of Eaton, to compel Mary Williams to relieve and maintain her indigent mother. Whereas on application to John Marshall, county judge of Manitowoc county, made by Richard White, John Grant and Robert Gould, supervisors of the town of Eaton in said county, it appeared that one Margaret McCabe of said town was a poor person, old, lame and decrepit, so as to be unable to maintain herself and was likely to become a charge upon said town; that one Mary A. Williams was the daughter and only relative of said Margaret McCabe, and of sufficient ability to relieve and maintain at her own charge said Margaret McCabe in such manner as should be approved by said supervisors; and that said Mary A. Williams neglected and refused upon demand so to do; and whereas, upon due hearing had, the facts stated in said application were found to be true, Ordered, that the said Mary A. Williams, of the town of Eaton in said county, be, and she hereby is, required to pay to the supervisors of the said town of Eaton for the support, relief and maintenance of Margaret McCabe, of the aforesaid town, the sum of two dollars per week for each and every week succeeding the date of this order, until the further order of the court in the premises. It is further ordered, that the said Mary A. Williams pay the costs and expenses of this application, taxed at nineteen and 10-100 dollars, and that said supervisors are hereby authorized to enforce the collection of all sums herein directed to be paid, as by statute provided in such cases. [Dated the fifteenth day of May, A. D. 1890. By the Court. John Marshall, County Judge.]3

The date at the bottom is 3 years after Margaret died.
