Birth

From John's GERMANNA NOTES on Culpepper Co GENWEN site:

Adam took communion at the Lutheran church on Christmas Day 1775, on Easter of 1776, Pentecost of 1776, and Christmas of 1776. After being so attentive to the festival days, he makes no more appearances there. Elisabetha Bender was there on Christmas 1775. Demilia was there on Easter of 1776 (when she was confirmed), and on Christmas of 1776. From the baptismal register we find that Adam and Demilia were husband and wife, for Hezeckiel, their son, was baptized on 28 Jul 1776. The boy had been born 16 Jun.

Death

From an email from Richard Painter of Central, SC Jan 1, 2011

I am a Great Great Great Grandson of Ezekiel Painter.... Ezekiel married Susannah Hagood of Pickens District, SC in Hall County, Georgia, in 1825-26. She was his second wife. He fathered three more sons and a daughter and died in 1839 in Alabama. He had two sons by another wife. I believe he was a widower as he was about 50 when he married Susannah who was about 34 at the time....

I am interested in any records of Ezekiel PAINTER in Washington Co. TN. or anyone working on this family. Ezekiel was born 16 June 1776 in Madison Co. VA. to Adam PAINTER and wife Demilla, who later moved to Washington Co. TN.

Ezekiel PAINTER married Susan HAGOOD 17 Sept. 1825 in Hall Co. GA. He is on the 1830 census in Hall Co. but died before the 1840 census, when Susan is in Saint Clair Co. AL. near some of her family. Greenville Co. SC census in 1850 lists Susan and children: Tandy Hightower PAINTER b. 1827, James PAINTER b. 1829, Martha Amanda PAINTER b. 1832 and John A. PAINTER b. 1834.

Tandy Hightower PAINTER married Harriet Parthania FULHAM in Greenville, SC. They moved to Henderson Co. NC, where they both died. They were my great grandparents.

Mary James

Note

From an email from Richard Painter, Jan 1, 2011:

"Ezekiel had two sons by another wife prior to marry Susannah. All I know is her first name which was Margaret. Her last name could have been Richie based on the middle name of their first son,

Their sons were: Andrew Richie Painter Born July 1, 1823 and Joel Painter born May 1, 1825.

This information was apparently taken from a Hagood Family Bible and other records and was provided by a Cousin of mine Margaret Gary Hagood Brightwell."
