Since both families came together from Knocknaboley at the same time, bought land together, and lived side by side for 40 years, it is likely that the two families were related. The first page from the (partial) records shown below shows James Saunders and William Darcy were in Port Hope Ontario by 1847. James Saunders sold his land to his son Thomas Saunders in 1864. |
