Shared note | The family moved to Nueva Vizcaya from New Mexico after the Revolt of 1680; his father Cristobal was dead so Juan became the owner of the family ranch, Hacienda de Julian in west Chihuahua. Later, when Juan died his mother Maria Dominguez de Mendosa became owner. In 1696 the hacienda was visited by government officials as they surveyed the far flung settlements west of Chihuahua city as is recorded in the Parral archives. |
